Made to skate
Skating, like writing, is all about looking at the world in a different way. It’s saying, “I know that thing over there - that chair, that curb, that architectural marvel, wasn’t specifically created for my wheels to roll over but I think this is going to work.” It’s one of the things I love about roller skating as the feeling is just one of complete freedom. It helps me open my mind, and clear out the trash when I get a case of the dreaded writer’s block.
Recently skateboarders Pedro Barros & Murilo Peres were given the once in a lifetime chance to skate the inspired and inventive work of Architect Oscar Niemeyer, and the resulting film is simply amazing. Not only is Niemeyer’s work still breath taking, but you’ll find yourself looking at it in a completely new light. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did, and that it puts a little kick in your day.
